The number one reason kids play sports is to have fun. When asked if they would rather be on a winning team and not play much or be on a losing team and play often, most kids choose to play more. Being on a winning team isn't their number one priority. This is why it's important in youth coaching to keep practices fun, not grueling. Kids are more likely to quit playing a team sport if they never get to play. Lack of playing time causes frustration and discourages kids from continuing.
