Here's a short list of possibilities:Chilopsis linearis, Artemisia tridentata, Calliandra californica. And for riparian species: Artemisia douglasiana,Platanus racemosa, Rosa californica & Sisyrinchium californicum. Shady areas: Salvia spathacea and ferns. Mulch but keep it away from the rootball and water as needed.
